Descriptions of every place listed are kept current only by the correspondence of readers who have visited them most recently. Comments on existing entries are an essential requirement of their continued inclusion, and reports on new places to visit, eat, or stay fuel the next editions. Every long entry featured in The Good Pub Guide, has been visited anonymously by the Editor, the Deputy Editor or both. Short entries are based largely on reader recommendations, but many of these have also been inspected editorially.
